Fylde Council appoints new Leader
Councillor Karen Buckley takes helm
Former Deputy Leader and Acting Leader steps into top role
Councillor Karen Buckley has been officially appointed leader of Fylde Council, following the resignation of Councillor Susie Fazackerley earlier this year. Councillor Buckley, who has served as Deputy Leader and Acting Leader since Councillor Fazackerley's departure, was elected to the role at the Council's Annual Meeting on 22nd July 2020.
Councillor Buckley said: "I am honoured to have been elected as Leader of Fylde Council. I am committed to working with my fellow Councillors, officers and partners to ensure that Fylde remains a great place to live, work and visit."
Councillor Buckley, who was born and bred in St Annes, has been a Councillor for Kilnhouse Ward since 2015. She has served on a number of committees during her time as a Councillor, including the Finance Democracy Committee, the Overview and Scrutiny Committee and the Planning Committee.
In her new role as Leader, Councillor Buckley will be responsible for leading the Council's work in delivering key priorities such as improving the local economy, protecting the environment and providing high-quality services to residents.
