Highbury: The Emirates Stadium's Historic Predecessor
A Grandiose Stadium with a Legacy of Legendary Moments
A Footballing Cathedral with a Rich History
Arsenal Football Club's iconic home from 1913 to 2006, Highbury, was originally designed with a colossal capacity of approximately 90,000 fans. However, the closest the Gunners ever came to that impressive figure was in early March 1935, when a remarkable 73,000 spectators filled the terraces of the grand old stadium.
For decades, Highbury's attendance was consistently estimated at around 60,000 before the stadium's transformation into an all-seated venue in the 1990s. Officially known as Arsenal Stadium, Highbury witnessed countless memorable moments in the club's illustrious history.
